As a mom myself, you can bet your britches that I definitely want a day set aside to honor, celebrate, and recognize the work I do and have done being a mother. Its hard. We should be celebrated, no doubt. In fact, being a mom has certainly made me appreciate my mom on a whole different level than I did before.
But I think its time this day get a makeover or something. After all, "moms" aren't the only one who should be recognized and celebrated on May 10.
I know an good number of women who are not mother's per say, that part isn't important, but yet do the work of mothering just the same. They care for others, they give of themselves selflessly, they invest their lives, they are role models, they pour out their love in abundance. Plus the women who aren't your mom but are their to support you just the same. Its your friends and siblings who care for and love your children, its your friend's mothers who give support, advice and invite you into their homes for tea, the great aunts who send cards and check in regularly, the neighbors and co-workers who are there for you when you live half the country away from your own mom.
You know these women too, don't you? They are incredibly special and we definitely should not neglect to recognize them on this day.
So who is with me?!
Lets start making May 10th about WOMEN and celebrating the women who have given and invested their lives in each of us. Definitely don't forget your mom , but be sure to thank all those other women who deserve to be recognized as well.
And if you are looking for a special way to say thank you, I have just the thing for you.
Details are coming soon so stay tuned!!
